OVERALL

Seeking timely medical attention poses many challenges for patients. I believe that technology can facilitate convenient self-checks and reducing the risk of condition deterioration. Therefore, I collaborated with an architect friend, and our project aims to reduce barriers to medical care and catch the early stages of illnesses. The project is divided into two phases: initial development, mid-term testing. The expected outcomes include increasing early medical visits, improving patient experience, and offering new solutions for the healthcare industry.

Stage 1 Narrow
Why choose to study intestinal disease detection in China?
Group 1000000993.png

Countries with extensive screening programs tend to have higher proportions of early-stage diagnoses.

China's medical resources are unevenly distributed, with less than 2,300 tertiary hospitals, mainly in Beijing, Shanghai and provincial capitals, and it is common to spend a day traveling to a major city to see a doctor.
WCRF International, Cancer Trends Progress Report
Low consultation rate of intestinal diseases, delaying the condition
More than 90% of Chinese people have intestinal health problems, the misdiagnosis rate of intestinal diseases is high and the rate of seeking medical advice is low, especially in the economically poor areas.
Frontiers, Verywell Health
The global incidence rate of intestinal diseases is rising
the incidence rate has increased by nearly 10% in the past three decades. According to statistics, colon cancer is the third most common cancer in the world, more than 1.9 million new cases by 2022.

It's hard for me to retain patience and focus at all times when I'm working continuously for 8+ hours a day

The core of intestinal disease is that it cannot be delayed.
For people like us who are at high risk, we hope that annual checkups can be less painful
Family history of colon cancer
Zhenhui, 53
Always do a lot of tests, but also can not differ in the end what is wrong with the gastrointestinal, I now have a hard time trusting doctors...
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Aversion to Medical Visits:
High medical costs and tedious processes discourage people from seeking timely medical advice, especially in economically disadvantaged areas.
Misdiagnosis and Self-Assessment Issues:
Many individuals cannot make accurate judgments about their gastrointestinal conditions, leading to delayed treatment and worsened health outcomes
Inefficient Communication:
The existing communication channels between doctors and patients are often unclear, which hinders effective diagnosis and treatment.
How might we provide better tools for individuals to
self-assess their gastrointestinal symptoms accurately?
